The fighting conditions for new Zealand soldiers at the battle of Gallipoli and the consequences of these.
For many
soldiers the hardest thing about the war was the conditions in which they were
fighting and living under. Small trenches, lack of supplies, and diseases were
just few of the difficulties that soldiers were faced with. Leaving their
families, unsure if they were to ever return was the dreadful reality of war.
This cartoon shows a soldier happy to have been shot as he knows that he will get to leave the battle grounds to get medical treatment. It shows us that the conditions the soldiers were in was so horrific that some men would rather go through the pain of getting shot than continue fighting in the war. The cartoon has shrapnel flying through the air and sand bags to give us an idea of what fighting in the front line was really like.
